Twitter is the microblogging tool that has taken the world by storm. Do you use Twitter? Probably not! Most teens prefer MySpace, MSN or Facebook. However, I want to show you a way to use Twitter to help you study.
Twitter – The Ground Rules
- Sign up for 2 accounts: One for personal use and one for study use. Why? Well you really don’t want to send some long lost friend a random tweet about World War 2.
- Ignore the Spammy Twitterers. You will get lots of people wanting to follow you. If you don’t know them, then ignore them.
- Tell your classmates, study buddies, and even teacher the name of your study twitter account. Get them to join and all to follow each other.
Now on to the Study Skills
Here are my ideas on how to use Twitter to Study.
Question and Answer: Get one person to write twitter questions and see who can write the answers the quickest
Definitions: Each friend gets a list of words and makes up an easy definition to study
Vocabulary: One friend posts a word, and then the others need to come up with the best examples of using that word in a sentence.
Create your own Quiz:
Share resources: If you find a great site just tweet it
Notetaking Tool: Use twitter to summarise a chapter of information
Ask Questions:
The beauty of this system is in the number and the memory.
You can only write 140 character tweets. Therefore you will need to work hard to make your notes and answers as short as possible. And your brain will thank you for that. It is much easier to remember a short note, then a huge paragraph worth or useless information.
The tweets stay in a long list. Every time you log on to your study account you will see what has been written while you were away, and what was done last night and even last week. You will never forget anything again.
