Today I thought I would show you one of the ways I stay organized as a teacher.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel silly teaching my students organizational tips and they look over to my desk and see piles of marking, and paper scattered over my desk.

My favourite resources are from Timesavers for Teachers.  It is a site designed by Stevan Krajnjan.  Stevan has created 11 downloadable books that can be used by teachers immediately.

Show me the free stuff

When I first check out a site like this I want to check out the free stuff.  Timesavers for Teachers gives plenty away.

  • Sign up to his email list and receive 2 Free books.  The books are called “Classroom Timesavers” and “Magic Classroom Management”.  I really enjoyed reading the second book.  It was great to have a refresher course on behaviour management.
  • 22 Free worksheets

The Books

Like I said earlier, there are 11 books.  I personally use three of them

  1. The Teacher Binder
  2. Report Card Comments
  3. Substitute Kits

My thoughts

  • Report Card Comments:  Love the comments for IEPs and regular report cards.  Sure, you can’t use them exactly but it is much easier to edit these ones than try to create your own.  Warning, don’t share these or everyone’s reports will sound like your and just your luck you will be told to re-write them
  • Substitute Kit:  I use it at the beginning of the year.  It helps me create a file for my class to highlight seating arrangements and specialist information.  As a Special Ed teacher I need to give plenty of specific information for when I am away and this helps.  The information is available on the web, but I like it all in one place
  • The Teacher Binder:  I don’t use this one as much as I should.  I like the lesson plan formats and the grids are helpful to keep student records and grades.  However I don’t find the passes and awards very useful.

Where can I find these books.

You have two choices if you want to check out this information in more detail.

My favourite, all time, reason why I like Timesavers for Teachers is that I get plenty of updates, but not in a SPAMMY way.  I have received many emails letting me know of free updates, extra resources and lots of goodies.

Do you have any great resources that help you get organized?  If so, why don’t you add a comment below.
