Skipping – Fun Ways to Study Series

in Fun ways to Study

Grab your skipping rope and start studying today.

I am serious.  This is a great strategy to remember information by rote.

Rote Learning

Rote learning simply means information you remember just by reciting it over and over again.  Examples include:

  • Mutliplication facts
  • Fomulas
  • Periodic tables
  • the alphabet
  • Foreign Language

How does this relate to skipping?

Well it doesn’t really.  But that is what makes it fun.  But by doing a repetive exercise while learning some information will make the information more memorable and thus easier to remember.

This is how it works.

  • Pick some facts to learn
  • Start skipping
  • For every skip, say a fact
  • Keep going
  • If you are learning something in a sequence, like the Periodic Table, then you need to say it in a sequence.  If you miss an answer, start again

Warning:  I would only do this for 5 minutes at a time.  I don’t want you to get tired.  I also suggest using this strategy when you notice yourself daydreaming.  A little time away from the computer will do you good.

Go on, try this strategy.  And let me know in the comments section below what you studied while skipping.
