Read Aloud and Improve your Study Revision

in Revision / Studying

When you were younger and learning to read, you read aloud.  Then, as you became an efficient reader, you were encouraged to ‘read in your head’.

How do you read when you study?

Grab some notes or a textbook.  Read the information for me.  Did you read aloud or silently?  If you read silently, did you actually read all the words or just skim the information.

Reading silently is great but you might not read all the information and therefore it will become difficult to memorize.

New Study Strategy:  Read Aloud

If you read aloud then you are slowing your brain down and focussing on every word.  But don’t think that I want you to read all your notes.  I suggest you start this effective study strategy with the more difficult subjects.

I also find it a good idea to pace, or walk around the room, when reading my notes aloud.

This is a really easy way to study.  You could start trying it tonight.
