Interesting question. I have one for you.
Why do you want a computer or laptop?
- I have a physical disability and it help me at home and school. Yes!
- I have a learning disability and it will help me. Yes!
- My school has a lap top program. Yes!
- I want to keep it in my room and play World of Warcraft. Oops, wrong answer.
I guess my point is this. Yes I think computers are great. But they are not the answer to all your problems.
You see, I am lucky enough to have a laptop to use at home and school and I use it for work and pleasure. I also see more and more students using them and it is great that laptops are getting cheaper.
However, laptops don’t make the work easier. You still need to think. You still need to do the work. In some instances, laptops can make your life harder because you need to worry about charging it, and making sure you don’t loose it.
Also, I have concerns with laptops at home. Students unsupervised on computers in their room is just a bad idea all round.
So I am sitting on the fence with this question. There is just no right answer. It is a decision you and your parents need to make.
