Your assignment is finished. You have printed it out and handed it to your teacher.
Well done!
But you are not finished just yet. You see your desk is probably covered with research notes, your Internet favorites are jumbled and you probably have multiple files stored in email and on memory sticks about the assignment.
What do you do with all that assignment stuff?
First, you need to keep a copy of your completed task. At least until your teacher marks the assignment.
Honestly, I would suggest keeping it until the end of semester or year.
Where should I keep my assignments?
- Notes and assignment information stored in Study Folder: Take these out, put in a folder and file in a box or filing cabinet.
- Computer Files: Create a new folder called “Completed Assignments” and move your assignment folder into there
- Memory Stick: Make sure all the information is on the computer, and delete the files from memory stick
- Internet Favorites: Create a new folder called “Completed Assignments” and move the websites into this new folder
- Emails: I would delete these. Please check home and school account, as well as sent and deleted items.
If you need more information on how to organize your computer files then check out this previous post.
This process should only take 20 minutes. However, it will make your life easier. You won’t be wasting time crawling through old files when you start that next assignment.
Whilst this was not a typical study skill it is an organizational strategy that will make your life easier.
