Listening is a very important skill to learn. It is simple task but many students are easily distracted. If students don’t listen to the teacher they miss important information and then will have trouble with their homework, assignments and exam revision.
Here is a great acronym that will help you teach listening skills to your class. It is called LEAN.
L: Look at the Speaker
E: Engage your mind (think about the topic)
A: Act interested
N: Note when necessary.
Simple. 4 tips to remind your students to listen in class. I suggest making a poster of the acronym and putting it in a prominate place in your classroom.
