Day 28: Recap the Weekly Plan

September 14, 2009

in Home Organisation

Today I would like to talk one more time about the Weekly Plan.  We have talked about the weekly plan twice already.

Day 5:  Weekly Overview

On Day 5 I asked you to keep a record of all the activities you complete in a week.   You had to keep a record of everything you do when you are awake – school, sports, acitivites and free time.

Day 8:  New Weekly Pan

Then on Day 8 I asked you to create a new weekly plan incorporating time for study.  Suggested study times were:

  • Years 7-8:  1 hour a night from Monday – Thursday and 2 hours on the weekend = 6 hours per week
  • Years 9-10:  90 minutes a night from Monday – Thursday and 3 hours on the weekend = 8 hours per week
  • Years 11-12:  2 hours a night from Monday – Thursday and 5 hours on the weekend = 13 hours per week

It is now Day 28 so you have had 20 days to practice the Weekly Routine.  How has the routine gone?  Are there some changes you need to make?

Something has got to give!

If you had difficulty following the routine then something needs to change.  You have a few choices:

  • change the routine – maybe do more study on one day, less on another
  • give up some free time or activities

What you cannot do is give up you study time.  You have just spent the last 27 days creating a routine, a great study routine.  But this routine is based on spending time every night on your assignments, homework and exam revision.  Please don’t give that up.
