Before we begin you need to find your diary. Go and do that now. If you don’t have one, or it is lost, get a new one and come back when you have it.
Use you diary and improve your study habits today.
I am hoping that you found that diary at your Base Camp. How is that going? If you need to organize it some more, do that before starting this step.
Right, Good. Everyone reading this should now have their school diary in front of them.
School Diary Basics:
- Make sure your name is on it. I am serious about this. I can guarantee you that at least 5 of you will need to do this.
- Stick or write your current timetable in the diary
- Get rid of any loose pieces of paper. Now this is easy to do. Turn your diary upside down and shake it. Get rid of anything that falls out. And if your entire diary falls out then it is trashed and you need to get a new one.
School Diary Strategies:
- Write down your classes for every day this week. If you are creative then use a different highlighter or pen for each class.
- At the end of each lesson you need to write in each space. No space should be left blank.
Example
| Form | Get note signed |
| Maths | Ex 3, p 12 – odd numbers |
| English | Read Chapter 5 |
| Geography | No homework |
| PE | No homework |
| PE | No homework |
| French | Start assignments |
What’s the point?
There is a very good reason why you need to write in every space. Actually 4 reasons.
- You need to get into a habit of using your diary so you need to use it every lesson, every day. And the habit won’t be formed for at least 28 days, or 6 weeks.
- Your parents will believe you when you say you have no homework if it is written in the diary.
- You will be organized.
- A Diary is the TOP Study Skill that you can learn. Everything will fall into place if you use this great study planner.
Give it a go. It is the first task to complete if you want to improve.
PS: Go put your diary in your bag. I want you to be able to use your diary at school tomorrow.
